Origin
of Golf
It is generally agreed that
the Scots created the game
of Golf, as we know it today,
in the 14th or 15th century.
It became so popular that
James II of Scotland banned
it in 1457, as it was keeping
the people from practicing
archery, a military necessity
that was vital to the country’s
defence efforts.
Golf legend, Arnold Palmer,
captures the essence of
the sport with the following
quote: “Golf is
deceptively simple and
endlessly complicated.
It satisfies the soul
and frustrates the intellect.
It is at the same time
rewarding and maddening
– it is without
a doubt the greatest game
mankind has ever invented.”
