Tennis
Origin of Tennis
It is believed that tennis was first played by French monks using their hands. Players started to use gloves later and these were in turn replaced by wooden paddles. By the 14th century, players began using proper rackets – inventions that are largely credited to the Italians. Major Walter Clopton Wingfield, a British military officer, invented lawn tennis in 1834, which is generally considered to be the first version of the tennis game we play today.
Tennis in the Club
United by a common passion for the sport, members of the Tennis Fraternity are driven to succeed. Training in unity has ignited the spirit of the Fraternity and the fire continues to burn with the strong urge to progress. The players are active in both internal and external tournaments and the Fraternity has also worked hard at cultivating the potential of new blood. Be a part of our tennis scene if you share our passion for the sport!
